Mäpt Whost-īenw (/whost/ /jenw/ [transparent] [eagle]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Bluefalcon Dutchy, Njæ̈ntihiēd Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Mäpt Whost-īenw is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Whost-īenw was founded by Hylgith vyim Yuvnotems vyim Rovuldtems, who was culturaly Gnollish.

Climate

Mäpt Whost-īenw has a yearly average temperature of 11°C (51°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cold 8°C (46°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 15°C (59°F). Mäpt Whost-īenw receives an average of 222 cm/y (87 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Overview

Mäpt Whost-īenw was founded durring the early 13th century in summer of the year 1248, by Hylgith vyim Yuvnotems vyim Rovuldtems. The establishment of Mäpt Whost-īenw was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Mäpt Whost-īenw's construction back out of the project. Hylgith vyim Yuvnotems vyim Rovuldtems pushed on reguardles, and Mäpt Whost-īenw was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Mäpt Whost-īenw was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Whost-īenw is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Mäpt Whost-īenw is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of restrictive baked earthen streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town is protected by a humble stone fence which is tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. The peasent-grade have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

A look around Mäpt Whost-īenw makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It’s a quiet town filled with closed scriptoriums, people quietly yet dejectedly reading in isolated places around town, and the occasional book laying in a heap of garbage.

Civic Infrastructure

Mäpt Whost-īenw has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Mäpt Whost-īenw. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Mäpt Whost-īenw's parks.

Mäpt Whost-īenw possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Mäpt Whost-īenw's grid is powered by hydrogalvanic generators.

Mäpt Whost-īenw has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Mäpt Whost-īenw's natural decorations nor waterways.

Mäpt Whost-īenw has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Cultural Notes

Mäpt Whost-īenw's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for the combined use of arcuated and trabeated construction, employing arches and constructed with post and lintel. The arch served as the style's chief structural element, with flanking columns serving as buttresses or decorations. While the general shape of their structures could be generously described as simplistic, the use of these arches and columns created a most distinct ascetic which is easily distinguishable on sight to armatures and experts alike.
